Day 4-6

Extend your trip and experience more must-see Saudi destinations. With a short hop to AlUla, blow up Instagram with a visit to the spellbinding Desert X art exhibition. Featuring a roster of high-profile international artists, newly commissioned works are strikingly situated throughout AlUla’s desert landscape. The last exhibition, held two years ago, was a resounding success. Take a guided tour of Hegra—Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and once the second city of the Nabataeans. Discover their remarkable culture and explore the rock-hewn tombs, secret rooms, and other startling fruits of their engineering ingenuity. Visiting Hegra’s exquisite timeworn craftsmanship makes for an exciting counterpoint to the dazzling modernity of Desert X. Experience the flavours of a traditional lunch at a beautiful private farm. You’ll see goats and deer, stroll beneath palm orchards boasting 26 varieties of juicy dates and see the flourishing vegetable beds. Amid this agricultural sanctuary, you’ll sit down to a delicious meal of regional specialities using hyper-local ingredients. Marvel at the impressive sentinel lions and artfully chiselled rock tombs of the Dadan and Lihyan kingdoms. Both centred their power for over more than a millennium in a stone city centred around the oasis. Fifty metres above the desert floor, ancient artisans carved ornate facades into the red rock cliffs that remain remarkably preserved to this day. As evening falls, take a stroll around the atmospheric AlUla Old Town Village—a former incense-trading post. Housed within the 12th-century Old Town—a labyrinth of lanes threaded between weathered mudbrick houses—you’ll find incredible shopping opportunities here with stylish boutiques and artisan stalls. For dinner, sit down to anything from upscale French cuisine to modern Saudi.
